No Go :(

The doctors were in just now and they are not going to discharge him today. They have taken his iv dilaudud away and increased an oral pain med. Hopefully this change will be beneficial and he will get discharged tomorrow. So for now-it's a no go to go home.

Update

Things continue to improve up here :) The doctors are getting his pain regimen under control before they release him. They hope to let him go home late tomorrow but that is VERY tentative since the doctor won't round until late afternoon tomorrow. He has good times & rough times with the pain. He has been walking laps around the unit, which seems to help the abdominal tightness and over all pain.   We are thrilled to have visitors up over weekend!! It helps to pass the time!!

Update

Good evening! It's been pretty uneventful the last day here in Chicago. His pain has been under control for the most part, which we are thankful for!! They have started him on a soft diet and he is tolerating it well!! As long as he continues to tolerate the food as they progress his diet & he eventually does his 'business' then we can go home!! Again thanks for all the prayers!

Update

Good morning!  Things are going good up here. The doctors added dilaudud, which he can get every 3-4 hours if he needs it. This has helped him greatly to be more comfortable. He had a decent night last night & he has been cleared to have clear liquids today! Things are moving right a long in the right direction!!  Love to everyone back home!!

Update

Good morning! Brent's surgery went flawlessly and the doctor was able to do everything he anticipated to do!! We were finally able to see him about 5:30 when they brought him to his room-after 4 hours in post-op & 10 long hours of waiting :). He was in post op an extra 2 hours because he was in excruciating pain (on the pain scale he was a 10-Through all his surgeries he has never had that kind of pain). Because of his pain they gave him a pain block-which took about 1 1/2 hours for the people to come in and give it to him...what we like to call 'the hurry up and wait game'.  He was blessed to be able to come straight up to 5 tower & skip the ICU, but he wasn't back more than a 1/2 hour and they whisked him away down to dialysis. So our family left at that time to head home-I appreciated them being up here with me for those 10 hours of waiting . He said he didn't sleep much last night and his pain wasn't horrible but his incisions were throbbing. Thankfu...

Surgery

Brent's out n in recovery. Things went great & he came out withOUT a bag!!! Yeahhhhhh-praising God!! Sorry for the late update I had an update types up when he went into surgery and forgot to post it....I will blame it on the lack of sleep ;)

Yeah!! The time has come!

The time has come for Brent to have his surgery to get his bowels reconnected! We are driving to Chicago as we speak. We plan is to be at the hospital at 5:30 in the morning because surgery is at 7:30. Because they are opening up his abdomen and messing with his bowels this surgery has the potential to be serious due to the infection risks etc. Please keep the doctors and all of us waiting in your prayers tomorrow. We have a peace that Gods hand is in all of this!  I plan to keep you all up to date as things progress tomorrow & as time allows!! Love to all of you:)
