Stomach surgery

Hey sorry this is a little later in the day. Brent's surgery went well this morning. He went in at 8:40 and was out by 10:45 but he was in recovery until 12:45. He is in the ICU in the surgical unit. Their reason for the ICU room is because of his lung transplant-this way they can watch him closer than if he was on the regular unit. He is doing well but is in a lot of pain. They pumped air into his chest cavity during the surgery so right now that's what's making him the most uncomfortable. I got a room at the Ronald McDonald house for tonight. Dr. Fischecella said he is planning to discharge us in the morning as long as things are going well. Brent's nurse just brought him in a pain pump so this should help A LOT with his pain control...he is pretty restless. Our wonderful dear friend Jenn(lung transplant nurse coordinator) was in to see us-we were both taking a rest & she sneaked in but she didn't get out before brent seen her-luckly! We were so glad to ha...

Update

Things are getting back to normal for us again. My eye is better & I was able to go back to work on monday & have been here ever since. I am so glad we will be able to attend some of our thanksgivings with our families. So far we have had to miss one because of me being layed up :( I have to go back next week for a check up & then I have to have yearly eye exams because I am now at a higher risk for glaucoma...could be worse. Brent's appt yesterday went well with out any problems. Thanks owen for all you did to help us out! So now we are pretty much awaiting his stomach surgery on Monday...after we eat LOTS of Turkey! hope everyone has a blessed thanksgiving ...remember to think of the things that you are each thankful for! We truly have an Awesome God!

our exciting life down in the boondocks

Well as I have said before I have been helping my brother & sister in-law's move to their new home and helping get things done on it. Friday we were moving and getting things put away. So I was in the bathroom putting in a spring loaded shower shelving unit that goes in the corner of a tub. Well when I was adjusting/pushing down on one of the shelves the whole thing came shooting out and hit me right in my R eye...it hurt like the dickens! Thought I was fine until my mother in law informed me that my eye was bleeding inside-between the outer part of my eye & the colored part of my eye...it's called a hyphema. So my mom took me down to Bloomington St. Joe ER for an opthalmologist to look at it. He gave me 2 eye drops, took a pressure reading on it and sent be home with this lovely clear shield for my eye. I have to wear the shield as much as I can tolorate & the drops he put me on keeps my eye dialated all the time. He also put me on bedrest for this week..so I have ...

Acid reflux

Well we went to Chicago on Monday . Brent's acid reflux is pretty bad-not the worse they have ever seen but pretty close. I guess they weren't surprised though because this is typical in Cystic Fibrosis Patients. So he has an appt . for next Thursday to do some testing and then the Tues & wends before thanksgiving he goes back up again. He is scheduled for the 30t h to have his stomach tied around his esophagus to stop the acid from going up and giving him acid reflux. The whole reason they want to do this so much is because the acid when it comes up can be aspirated into his lungs causing lung rejection. He does notice the acid reflux but nothing that terrible-per Brent. They do think it's a good chance that he has Barrett's esophagus due to this acid reflux but that is not for sure until they do these tests coming up in the next couple weeks. So he has his surgery on the 30 th and he will be in the hospital for 1 day and up to 3 days depending on what procedu...

Well things have been going awesome around here. Not problems to speak of, Brent's been feeling Really good. We have yet to hear results on his acid reflux test. We have been helping Brent's brother get their house ready to move into this weekend. I am having a blast helping paint and do some decorating with Amanda...good times! Brent is back in the field farming today. He has been off since last Wends because of all the rain and the combines kept getting stuck! They are pretty busy so he is loving it! He did go down to Altorfer in Clinton and inquired on a couple jobs. So we are waiting patiently to see what is ahead of us. I am currently working my three 12 hr days and one 6 hr day a week. I love my job and the girls I work with! It's pretty fun! I have never been able to say that I love my job but I do, I enjoy everday going into work...so far so good! We are going back up to Chicago on Monday the 9th for the diabetes Dr & his sinus Dr. FYI-For all of you that don...
