Kidney Transplant

We realize it's been quite a while since we have updated the blog. As I continue to say  "No news is good news!"
Well this is news and it's GREAT! Since about January Brent has had several family members get tested to see if they were matches to him for a kidney transplant. We are thankful for each one of them that took that step if faith, were selfless and willing to endure a surgery to save Brent's life. The doctors have found a match and it will be his brother Merle. The surgery is scheduled for next week Thursday June 26th. As of now we don't have a time for the surgery but we go up Tuesday for a pre-op appointment and we plan to get it then. I haven't given this information out sooner or posted anything since this process all started-out of respect for the other people who have been involved and the uncertainty of a lot of the details.
We would appreciate your prayers in this coming week that God will go before us, prepare all of our hearts going into this, direct the doctors & staff and grant healing for both Brent & Merle.
A little history on these past months:
Brent has been feeling pretty good for the most part- he's going to dialysis 3 nights a week for 4 hours-but he is counting these days down with great anticipation :) 2 treatments to be exact! With these treatments he does an IV after each one at home for a preventative measure. Most days after treatments he feels ok but at times he would get bad headaches, muscle cramping and increased tiredness.  Thankfully these symptoms have been minimal compared to some patients.
When his brother Merle got tested and the results came back he matched 6 out of 6 of the genetic blood markers- we were amazed and then within the following week we found out he matched even more than the 6 markers-to the extent that the nurses said they could be twins according to there blood! This is not a common occurrence. God had answered our prayers once again! It's very humbling to go through these events in our lives knowing that God's plan always works and is always THE BEST- whether we see it at the time or not.
We will continue to update as the next week progresses!

Love to all of you!
Brent & Trudy
