6/2/13 update from the day

Well today brought us positive improvements. I don't think at this point it is safe to say he is out of the woods but any improvement is encouraging.

As of noon today we had been told that they were going to take him in to do the colon surgery but that they weren't going to do it until later today or tonight. BUT they were able to wean him off of the medication the increases his blood pressure so they are holding off on surgery. He is holding his own without the medication at this time. It has currently been 3 hrs without it and his b/p has actually increased to where it normally is at home. This brings all of us a sense of ease. So currently surgery is cancelled BUT if things would take a turn for the worse and he has to go back on the medication for his b/p then they will do surgery ASAP.

Since we have been here they have given him a total of 13 liters of fluids. Needless to say he was extremely dehydrated. He is producing a touch more urine, which means his kidneys are working a tiny bit more...a tiny bit but, they are still keeping a very close eye on that and there is still the possibility that they will start dialysis if his kidneys don't continue to improve.

His stomach had been pretty distended due to all the inflammation going onion the colon. From what we can tell his stomach looks as though it has gone down a touch. The doctors are hearing some bowel noises as well which is a good sign. He is still having discomfort/ pain across his belly which they are giving him morphine for to help him so he can sleep.

He is also having some back pain due to laying in bed for a period of time with out getting out of bed. So the morphine is also helping with this as well.

His spirits have been better today which we are contributing to the positive changes that we are seeing. It's just Ike watching the power of prayer unfold in front of our eyes once more. Please continue to pray for Gods Devine healing, comfort and intervention in all that is ahead of us.

Thanks to all of you who have texted, emailed, posted or just sent up a prayer for us. W appreciate them all. Please do not be offended if I don't text y back as it can be hard to respond to everyone. I tend to just place updates on here so everyone is on the same page. :) Love to all of you back home and many many many thanks to our family who have come up and those threat have stayed over night with us...it is greatly appreciated!!
