Staying At The Big House with all the perks!!

Well as a lot of you may know Brent has had respiratory flu since the beginning of December. Since then he has had great days and very cruddy days. Including symptoms of chills-to the point of literally shaking like a leaf, fevers,coughing and SOB. We have been in contact with our dr's in Chicago through out the month and after the SOB came on we decided it best to get an appt with the dr. We came up on Friday for an appt and after an X-ray along with some blood work the diagnosis was given that he has pneumonia. So with that he was admitted and so the stay here at the big house has begun. I am blessed to have a room at the Ronald McDonald house-where they have new wonderful mattress!! (those of you who have stayed there would understand) :)
Yesterday they also did a bronchoscopy and he did ok through that. Since then he has been on a little oxygen just as a recovery method they do. He is currently being weaned off and is down to 1.5 L.
Today he is feeling MUCH better we think it's either that they cleaned him out during his bronch or the antibiotics or both!! Either way it's a relief because he was pretty miserable yesterday along with increased SOB.
When Dr Dilling was in this morning he stated that the culture results are not back yet so they are waiting for those to narrow down which antibiotic they should use- they r currently using a broad spectrum antibiotic.
They last thing is his hgb is low so they are going to give him a couple units of blood.
We have appreciated all the love and support and especially the prays! We know that God is in control of all of this! Love to all of you!

Dr. Alex was just in. Nothing really new. Pretty much just waiting for those tubes to come out. He explained his meds and when we will need to come back for appt's with him etc. He is one of the nicest Dr's that we have...I say one of because we many that are nice! It's OVER!!!...so far!

He is out of surgery and everything went GREAT!!! It's awesome!!! We are so truly thankful for all that has come over the past hours! He should be extubated by the end of today. I will let you know more when I know!

Good evening! First thing this morning we went to Chicago to meet with the Dr who will be over seeing Brent’s photopheresis treatments. We had all of our questions answered and are hopeful that the treatments will work.  His first treatment will be Thursday morning of this week and we will have to go again on Friday. The treatments have to be done in Chicago and-we were glad to hear-the treatment will only be 2 hrs long!! The one side effects he has is that he can’t be exposed to the sun the first 24 hrs after treatment. This is because they use UV light in the treatment and it takes 24 hrs for his body to absorb any excess of the UV sensitive drug that may be in his body.    Other than that he should feel the same as usual!  He was also scheduled to get a port (under the skin) placed today.
