Things keep looking up

We got more good news this morning! They have bumped his oxygen down to 3 liters! They have said he may move to the floor later today or tomorrow. We are in no hurry because we don't want to have to come back to the ICU! He did get disconnected from his insulin drip yesterday afternoon and they got his shunt pulled so he was excited to get out of bed and sit in the chair! We both got a good night sleep last night since he didn't have to have his blood sugar tested hourly.

The head blood doctor came in yesterday evening and informed us that he didn't think all these blood problems were ttp but a toxicity of his prograf (anti-rejection med). So I guess it doesn't seem clear what caused what but things are better! All his labs this morning look good! None of the teams have been in just the "scouts" as Brent calls them!

Dr. Alex Rounds

Dr. Alex was just in. Nothing really new. Pretty much just waiting for those tubes to come out. He explained his meds and when we will need to come back for appt's with him etc. He is one of the nicest Dr's that we have...I say one of because we many that are nice! It's OVER!!!...so far!

He is out of surgery and everything went GREAT!!! It's awesome!!! We are so truly thankful for all that has come over the past hours! He should be extubated by the end of today. I will let you know more when I know!

Good evening! First thing this morning we went to Chicago to meet with the Dr who will be over seeing Brent’s photopheresis treatments. We had all of our questions answered and are hopeful that the treatments will work.  His first treatment will be Thursday morning of this week and we will have to go again on Friday. The treatments have to be done in Chicago and-we were glad to hear-the treatment will only be 2 hrs long!! The one side effects he has is that he can’t be exposed to the sun the first 24 hrs after treatment. This is because they use UV light in the treatment and it takes 24 hrs for his body to absorb any excess of the UV sensitive drug that may be in his body.    Other than that he should feel the same as usual!  He was also scheduled to get a port (under the skin) placed today.
