So here is the low down...
So last Friday we went to Chicago for a heart test, which turned out fine. His PET scan showed the lymphoma only in his colon and no where else in his body at this time. On Tuesday we came up to see Dr. Barton (hematologist). He said that the bone marrow biopsy looks fine so the lymphoma is not in his bone marrow either which is a huge relief! Because his hemoglobin was low last week at this time he decided to give him 2 units of blood today. He was starting to have some shortness of breath(which can be because of your hemoglobin being too low). They did find when they did a chest x-ray yesterday that he has some fluid on his L lung-which could be due to the fact he is retaining A TON of fluid, especially in his feet & legs. He is pretty miserable when he gets home from work because of the fluid but putting them up for the evening helps loads! He had a pulmonary function test done yesterday and it was down 20% which is most likely because of the fluid on his lung.
So Dr. Barton's plan of action for this lymphoma is to start IV infusions tomorrow that take anywhere from 4-6 hours. They will do a treatment once a week for the next 3 weeks, so he will have a total of 4 treatments. When we are up here in Chicago for these infusions he will also have an appt. with Dr. Barton to discuss with him how things are going. Dr. Barton wants to keep a close eye on this.
Not sure if a mentioned this before but this is a very rare thing to happen post transplant. We knew there was a chance of it happening but rarely does it.
Thanks to all of our friends & family for all your support. Over all God's been good in our life!
