FINALLY!!! A Diagnosis!
Well, we finally made it home from Chicago on Friday night. Friday morning the hematology team came in and asked us we had heard what his diagnosis was...um NO! We were told by them that he has Large B Cell lymphoma that has taken residence in his colon. So we will be going back up on Wends for a bunch of testing along with a bone marrow biopsy. They are going to treat it with antibody infusions at this time. We do not know the treatment schedule at this time. We will hopefully find more out on Wednesday when we go up.
I know there are a lot of questions out there. Please feel free to ask them and we will answer them as best we know..if we know.
Is this related to the lung transplant?
Somewhat. We knew there was a chance he could get this lymphoma, which is derived from the mono virus (EBV). He was mono negative (he has never had mono) before transplant and his donor was negative so none of this came from his donor. He got the mono virus either from a blood transfusion or just from being out and about and picked it up.
Will this effect his new lungs?
At this time no. His lungs are doing great through this.
Is he able to work at this time?
Yes he will be able to work even through the treatments. He has been feeling pretty good and the stomach pain he went in for is gone.
How bad is it and what's the outcome?
It's moderate in this kind of lymphoma and 70% of people with this kind get it taken care of either with antibody infusions or chemo.
How are we holding up?
We are doing ok. I knew earlier in the week this is probable what the diagnosis was going to be because of the Dr's reactions they had been giving me. Needless to say I was pretty upset when we found out from hematolgy what was going on and not the dr's that had been following him all week and tell us ...maybe tomorrow...maybe tomorrow. But God has a reason for everything! We are doing fine with this...just another thing to get taken care of before we can move forward in life.
Why does this happen to us?
Because it's God's will and He is using us everyday to shine our lights! So let your little lights shine!
God will provide just like He has...I have NO DOUBT! Whatever happens will be God's will!
Please just continue to pray for the Dr's that make the decisions for his care, for Brent, for me and for our families at this time! We can't say it enough we love you all...friends and family!
We have to put a shout out to our dear friends that we were with over the weekend! You guys mean so much to us and we appreciate our friendship SO much! Thanks for being there for us! Love you!
