Tube Placement Procedure



Well I am sitting here on the internet waiting to hear from the nurse or someone to see how things are going with Brent's tube insert. He went in at 10:10 and they said it shouldn't take long...probable compared to the lung transplant. We kind of planned about 1-2 hours or so but we haven't really been told from anyone here at the hospital how long this procedure is. Thanks so much again for all the prayers! We were blessed to have our friend Jeremy Zobrist come up and visit us last night. We truly enjoyed our time together! He is such a super neat guy-Thanks so much for coming up Jeremy!

PS Just talked to the receptionist and they are finishing up on the procedure! Yeah! We SHOULD be going home after this...Home to the hotel!

11:45-Brent's out and is doing good-we should be leaving the hospital soon. I am thankful once more for a small surgery that went well. Praising God!!!

    Brent and Trudy, As always our thoughts are with you. I'm so glad your procedure is over. When we think how far you have come in the last three to four weeks we are so amazed and so very thankful. Hang in there. This week will be gone before you know it. We love you.

    Hi, there to a darling couple! Love that most recent picture!!!!! We will sure pray for the young man you mentioned. So glad to hear the placement went well and that is draining. That will sure help and hopefully next week you can get it our and be home before you know it. Otherwise, we may have to drive up there and kidnap you! The "grill email" was a delight for U. Bob.............maybe you could go into the business of building them when you get home.

Dr. Alex was just in. Nothing really new. Pretty much just waiting for those tubes to come out. He explained his meds and when we will need to come back for appt's with him etc. He is one of the nicest Dr's that we have...I say one of because we many that are nice! It's OVER!!!...so far!

He is out of surgery and everything went GREAT!!! It's awesome!!! We are so truly thankful for all that has come over the past hours! He should be extubated by the end of today. I will let you know more when I know!

Good evening! First thing this morning we went to Chicago to meet with the Dr who will be over seeing Brent’s photopheresis treatments. We had all of our questions answered and are hopeful that the treatments will work.  His first treatment will be Thursday morning of this week and we will have to go again on Friday. The treatments have to be done in Chicago and-we were glad to hear-the treatment will only be 2 hrs long!! The one side effects he has is that he can’t be exposed to the sun the first 24 hrs after treatment. This is because they use UV light in the treatment and it takes 24 hrs for his body to absorb any excess of the UV sensitive drug that may be in his body.    Other than that he should feel the same as usual!  He was also scheduled to get a port (under the skin) placed today.
