Day 2

Brent is doing good. He was sitting up when we came in this morning in a chair. He ate his liquid breakfast...yummy! He said he seen the clock about every hour but he rested well. They took him off of the oxygen at 3 this afternoon....how amazing! It's just amazing...words don't come to me! It's just an awesome thing! He has been off ever since and he is doing good. It was kind of wierd for him not to have a canulla on him. They pulled his IV out of his neck artery and we are now moved to another floor and out of ICU so the visiting hours are wide open now! The last couple days the visiting hours were very strict. He is pretty uncomfortable with the 4 chest tubes that he has in him right now. They keep telling us that as soon as those chest tubes come out he will "realize and feel" right now he knows that he has new lungs but he doesn't truly have the "feel" of the new lungs. His chest feels thight to him because one he has those chest tubes and two he has a lot of tape on his chest around the tubes. Sorry this is so late getting on here! It's been a hecktic day! Love to all!

  1. Wow! All I can say is Praise God! Really, nothing else seems to do justice for the great news. No oxygen! What a gift! Tell Brent a big "hi", and Becky and I can't wait to pick on him again and get him laughing :) Okay, maybe we'll wait for him to heal more before we get him laughing too hard. Just think, we'll be able to laugh as much as we want without any more coughing spells. How great is that?! Just don't let that one respiratory therapist in the room with us and we'll behave :)
Love you guys! Praying for a good night for both of you.
    XOXOXO

  2. Dear Brent and Trudy and families,

Truly rejoicing in the miracle! Have been faithfully following your blog and appreciate the updates. When there's no update, I start imagining the worst, but then it keeps getting better! No oxygen! What a change! Praying for healing for the surgery site and that your body doesn't reject the "foreign" lungs! Glad your family was all able to be with you. I've been encouraged all along by your fantastic attitude. I join you in proclaiming God's goodness and faithfulness!

Leaving you in Jesus' love and care,
    Nancy Knepp

We got this from Kurt and Livy, and are so thankful to hear how things are going. We were at your baptism, Brent, and were so excited to hear then when you were engaged. God's peace and nearness in these special times is unspeakable, and just lets us know in part of His wonderful goodness and mercy to us. May the Lord continue to be mightily by your sides.

We thank God for all that has transpired and are praying for continued healing and recovery. Brent, wish we could give you a hug, however, right now I imagine you aren't looking for anyone to touch you, right? Have a great day!

Dear Bro. Brent and Sis. Trudy,
We continue to pray for you and rejoice that our Lord has blessed your lives with this "Miracle", we thank Him. We appreciate the updates, and may you continue to be inspired to share His love as you have been. The fact that it rained vesterday, and it"s the 27th of May and many farmers are not done planting, seem unimportant when we read your of your "Miracle" , It is truly an inspiration! May God continue to Bless you all.
